Character Name: Xemnas

Physical Description:
Standing at around six feet tall, Xemnas can be an opposing figure. Constantly garbed in a torn up dull black robe, he roams the streets looking altogether shabby. His bright silver hair hangs down around his face, with many strands being swept back from his forehead. His body is muscular in shape, weighing in at around 160, though the drab clothing he wears makes him seem formless and shapeless.

To contribute to his darker exterior, his skin is a dark brown, almost as if he has spent his life under a tanning bed, though his skin is naturally dark. Contrasting his dark skin, however, are bright pumpkin-orange eyes that stare out from behind small silver-framed glasses, which he is constantly wearing.

Also, wrapped around his neck is a single simple black ribbon, tightly tied at the back. The purpose or the why of this ribbon is unknown, though it apparently has a sort of value to him since he is not seen without it.

Despite his apathetic view towards others as well as conversations, Xemnas’ face displays many emotions, going through many dramatic changes as he converses with another. However, his face is calm and blank when he is silenced, or when he finds no interest in the conversation. He uses his arms to convey what he’s trying to say, creating sweeping gestures that keep others’ attention focused to him.

His stance is almost awkward looking, with his chest sticking out farther than his stomach, his spine a distinct curve.

Personality:
Callous and apathetic, Xemnas is the perpetual wearer of the cliché “mask of stone”. He finds the drama and emotions played out by normal humans to be false and disinteresting. Despite this opinion, however, he still finds himself strangely interested in their inner workings – why they feel, how, and what triggers what reactions.

Because of his scientific background, Xemnas is an innately curious man, asking himself and others why they take what paths they do in life. He does not see fit in questioning his own existence, and rather is more interested in others’. He’s hypocritical in his dislike of others and yet interested in their lives, and because of this he varies on whether he intermingles with the populace of the city, or hides away in his own corner of the dark of the slums.

When he does decide to communicate with others, he speaks slowly, articulately, and deliberately. He never says something he does not mean, unless a lie could be used to his own advantage. As a result of his rich history, he is used to having people obey his orders and fear him, though he is not affected greatly if he does not receive this attention he has become so used to. Xemnas could almost be called petty, because he cares only for himself, and is less likely to help another than he is to fly – being much more suited to dumping such responsibilities onto others.

Strengths:
First and foremost, Xemnas is not afraid of hurting others to protect himself or to attain something he wants. However, he sees no need in trivial things and is only interested in the bare essentials he needs to survive.

He comes from a rich background and is somewhat used to being pampered, but living in poverty since he was separated from his family has hardened him, internally and externally.

To be able to survive in the dregs of the city, he became adept at using poles for self-defense. He is able to dish out damage as well as take some of his own. He finds his apathy to be a useful weapon as well, as he feels nothing for the others that he harms.

Weaknesses:
As much as his apathy is a strength, it is also a weakness. He feels no fear when in danger, now the need to escape or fight back when in danger. He actually cares little for himself, and if he were wounded, he would not be in a particular hurry to heal himself.

His unnatural curiosity has also gotten him into problems, as others become easily suspicious of him when he continues to ask questions, unaware as to whether they are personal or not.

Though his dislike for people and society is apparent, there are two beings he actually cares for in a sort of manner, though it is not apparent to himself or to others. Should they be hurt or taken (though the odds of such are small), he could be manipulated using them against him. However, he would not allow either of these two people to be harmed, and as such could put himself in unnecessary danger.

History:
Xemnas, from what he can remember, grew up in a wealthy home, surrounded by anything he could desire. His parents were wealthy aristocrats, and he himself was on the same road before his mother’s death, which was intertwined with the birth of his younger sibling, named Xehanort.
There was no love lost between Xemnas and his brother, because the eldest always connected his mother’s death to his brother, as any young child would do. However, his father eventually changed this view, and Xemnas gained an almost hateful love of his brother, though Xemnas would always see his mother’s blood on Xehanort’s hands.

After their father died through natural reasons at the age of twelve, while his younger brother was seven, the two began to grow apart, before eventually one day the younger son left without rhyme nor reason. Xemnas had tried to take care of his brother, but began to think of him as more as a thing than a human that needed care, as he hadn’t shown much more than apathy towards anyone after his mother’s death.

Xemnas searched for his brother, though he felt no true bond to him at this point in time, but never found out where he had gone, or why. Believing he was dead, Xemnas was about ready to give up searching for Xehanort. At the age of thirteen, a year after his brother’s disappearance and a year of living on his own without house or family, Xemnas stumbled across a young aristocrat that reminded him of his family from the past – a young man named Isa.

The man was cold, calm, and as apathetic as himself, but Xemnas found him interesting, nonetheless. He was the first person he had openly started a conversation with since his brother’s disappearance, without wanting something in the end. In some sort of fit of kindess – or because of some secret plan that Isa had in mind – the aristocrat invited him to his own home. But the city was cruel and the citizens harsh, and Xemnas had learned to trust no one but himself. He politely declined, but asked instead of they could meet again.

Isa agreed, and they planned to meet at the same bridge they had met the first time on the next full moon. However, two meetings did not seem to satisfy either man. The meetings then became regular, and Xemnas eventually forgot – or stopped caring – about his lost brother, no longer using him as an excuse to visit the bridge every full moon.

As the years went on, the meetings became more regular, going from once a month to every week, and sometimes even days. The routine has lasted 14 years, and continues on today – though Xemnas has never agreed to go with Isa, instead refusing him politely every time.
